15 Years Of Playstation

Today marks 15 years since Sony launched the PS1. From Tekken to Final Fantasy VII, the PS1 delivered with classic after classic. PS1 is my personal favorite system of all time. It delivered the best Japanese RPGs the gaming industry has ever seen, in my opinion at least. Some more popular than others, nevertheless, many gamers have had their share of moments with the PS1. Whether you were breaking crates on Crash Bandicoot or sneaking past stupid, naive henchman on Metal Gear Solid, everyone had something to enjoy on the original Playstation console. Lets not forget technical hiccups like when the disc spinner thing broke or weak lasers caused your game to freeze. So take a moment, spark up that nostalgia and reflect on your moments with the PS1.  Happy Birthday Playstation, can’t wait to see what the future has to offer.

It’s been 15 year (as of today) since Sony has graced us with the Playstation console system. I remember the very first day it came out like it was yesterday. I walked into Funcoland (Now known as Game Stop) with my hard earned four hundred dollars and slapped it on the counter and , said ” I’m here for the Play station.” I also remember my best friend whining about how paying 300 bucks for a console is too expensive. I then shot him down that even though the Super NES and Genesis were a hundred bucks cheaper, the Atari 2600 CVS came out in the seventies at three hundred a pop.

After that shut him up, I grabbed my system with a copy of Battle Arena Toshinden & Ridge racer and wasnt seen leaving my house about a week later.. Good times.

The official website has a nice picture of all the devices that Sony has come out with under the Playstation banner. There are some other great wall paper pictures on there as well. Again, thanks for all the great years of gaming Sony and I hope many more years are coming. BTW folks, aren’t you glad that the Sony / Nintendo deal fell through when it did?
