Ok, so MTV’s hottest Mc’s list has begun to roll out this week. Yesterday, they placed Wu Tang general Raekwon at number 10. And today none other than 50 Cent has come in at number 9. Now I don’t fully agree with the decision. And honestly I don’t fully agree with the circle of people making these decisions either. You will see what I mean when you view the video below.  You will hear The Koalition crew chime in on these choices very soon. But for now, what are your thoughts?

Flame Thrower: 50 Cent

2009 Rank: 9

Previous Rankings: 2007 (#8); 2008 (#6)

Why He’s Hot: Over the past year, 50 Cent chose not to roam on one of his main predatory terrains, the Billboard charts, by continuing to hold back the release of his long-awaited Before I Self-Destruct LP. Instead, the G-Unit General began to fully realize the potential of another region in which he’d already planted his flag: the Internet.

Visit MTV for the full breakdown. And leave your thoughts below.

Why don’t you agree, do you think he should be higher or lower?

Honestly I think he should be in the top 3 with Jay & Em… Fif might not be the best rapper lyrically but he’s such a huge part of the industry and is by far the most entertaining rapper out

  2. Joeki11a says:

Its perfect, he isn’t 2003 Kap is 2009 and 50 HAS NO BUZZ AT ALL

I am more mad that Raekwon is 10, the fuck he should be top 5

since he just dropped a fucking classic during a period of time

in the game where is full of bunch of corny new age rappers faggots

    wearing female tight jeans.

Can someone explain to me why ppl care so much about mtvs top 10 rap list? Is it hype from viacom? I rather hear a hot 97 top 10.

  4. A.B. Frasier says:

i agree 50 aint buzzing like he used to. but 9?? he atleast a 6. and raekwon despite what mtv wrote wouldnt be buzzing if he didnt chip joe budden up

  5. A.B. Frasier says:

lol yo dude with the shades said 50 aint had a record that was hot and bubbling since february soi he shouldnt be on the list. so by that metric why is raekwon even there? i want rae to be on the list but what im tryna point out is the inconsistency in the way they choose people

  6. Carl Daniel says:

word… this Rae even have a single for last album?

i’m not knocking him, just wondering

  7. I see Drake being up there which aint all that bad.

  8. Gary A Swaby says:

    50 should be top 3

    Yeah fight me!

  9. Mr. Kennedy says:

I know that 50 cent is way better than everyone on the list except for Eminem. I have seen alot of growth in him. Just because his music isn’t played on the radio doesn’t mean that it isn’t good music. Look at all the songs Llody Banks makes. There isn’t really anyone on the list the can out rap Llody never less 50 cent. Most of these guys can’t even perform the songs they made. G-Unit always have great concerts. 50 can perform every song he wrote. I am very disappointed at the choice of music out there today. I have 4 grown children and I can’t say that I have been impressed with any artist more than 50 cent. Before people say he doesn’t have any songs look him up on Youtube. Go to his website and download his cd’s. G-unit has lots of songs out there. He had to take back seat to Eminem this year that’s why he’s been doing mixtapes. He’s so creative that he makes more music than Interscope can put out. I didn’t even know he had so many new songs because theyre not played on the radio. Before you judge him go check out his concerts and videos on Youtube.

The only person raps better than 50 Cent Is Eminem. Most of those guys can’t even perform their songs. Go look up their concerts on Youtube.

People still listen to 50? Wow! His shit sounds like $0.05 refunds you get for cans in Detroit……………mad recycled!

That nigga got buzz for being original and new and now he just recycles songs/concepts and he’s stale as fuck. He never was that great of a rapper to begin with and now he’s a stale average Curtis.

And for all those that think he was that nigga never had any good word play or lyricism just originality and flow.

    • Gary A Swaby says:

50 may not be lyrical but his words always have meaning. People dont listen to his shit enough, so they think he just raps about guns and murder. But 50 captures reality so well in his rhymes, in a way that many other rappers cant.

Not every rapper is supposed to be a lyrical genius, but if you can capture reality in your rhymes then thats just as good.

      • Joeki11a says:

50 was better before though, way more hungry and actually lyrical

that power of the dollar 50 was the best 50, GOTD 50 was polished

and ready to blow, 50 of today IS NOTHING compared to like he was

he doesn’t try anymore………because he doesn’t have to, so it

comes off forced and shit, like he is a studio tough rapper now.

  13. Gary A Swaby says:

listen to his mixtape shit and not his singles

  14. Joeki11a says:

Oh I do, WAR ANGEL is one of the best mixtape this year, but like I said it proves my point that all he is now is a studio tough rapper.

He goes in there like is a movie and acts his rhymes out, he no longer can come tough like that in an album though, which is why he leaves in the mixtapes, you know what he gives the maintream?

“GET UP”,”OK YOU RIGHT”, ect all flopped singles, his album is going
to be wack as fuck watch, way too many delays and way too many flopped singles.

But then again, he is curtis jackson now he doesn’t want to be 50 cent
that is just a brand now.
