Kids complain, but they are having way more fun in school than we did. Thanks to Rockstar Games they have even more of a reason to like music class, which was weak sauce in my day. Teaming up with music production and DJ institute Dubspot, Rockstar put PSP to work as a tool to teach music theory and composing. This is the type of example other music games should follow. But to be fair most music games don’t have the right tools of the real life trade like Beaterator has (ex: sequencer, drum machine, etc.)
The highly experienced instructors from Dubspot help navigate students through Beaterator’s interface while providing tips for beat-making and highlighting the basic principles and terminology associated with music creation. By the end of the course, students are able to construct a beat from scratch using drumkits and melodies and layer their own vocals over their unique beat.
