Pilot episode for Celis’s new video blog. Weekly or bi weekly she will be discussing different game industry topics during the week and will be asking the viewers for their opinion on the piece the following week. If you have a question or opinion on the subject or the video please leave a comment. But if you would like her to read your comment on air make it good.

BBC have some fanboys on their team, thats how this came about.
Great show, rofl @ the bloopers.
To me it seemed as though watchdog were hyping a problem which is clearly a very small issue in the U.K, as the figures themselves suggest a 0.5% failure rate (if my math is correct :S), which to me seems like a figure that Sony should be praised for! Considering the failure rates of other home gaming consoles this seems really stable. Additionally the majority of faults were with the 60GB launch units, and since they are no longer in production with newer units released and the newly released PS3 Slim, surely the failure rate can only decrease? This whole episode was a complete farce in my honest opinion and only serves to mock and trnish the reputation of the BBC and Watchdog for the petty research they have made into this issue.
Like I said on YT, this is no coincidence at all
Sony is on the biggest upswing they ever been in with PS3
so when this came out it was clearly done to fuck with the momentum.
Great pilot Celis!, I like the black and white style, gives it an edgy look, keep up the good work.
Koalition all day! 1
Off topic:

1) the PS3 is £300 (£250 for the old ones) not £400!
2) If it breaks you more than likely won’t lose all your stuff like they said
3) why have they reported problems on the old model now when there’s a new one that’s finally selling?
4) Watchdog has gone completely wack all of a sudden, it went from a serious consumer rights show to a compilation of weak comedy skits… Fuck that show
just to give you guys an idea of how watchdog is no longer relevent here’s how they’ve changed for the worse…
2 weeks ago people were complaining about their cable provider (Virgin Media) cutting off their service when the person who pays the bill dies. Not only is that a stupid problem (just resign up you idiots!) but the way Watchdog handled it was even worse. First they tried to get Richard Branson on the show to defend his company like he hasn’t got millions of other thing to do, and he probably doesnt know shit about Virgin’s cable service anyway… why couldn’t they get a normal Virgin Media P.R. person like they would have done in the past?
Secondly; instead of contacting Virgin Media and talking on behalf of the dissatified customers they decided to send a message to Virgin by hiring a comedy writer to make a song dissing Virgin and then they put it on youtube. WHAT THE FUCK? are we really meant to take this stupid ass show serious?
anyway heres the video, watch and weep

YO ICON HERE! GREAT SHOW JESS CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE NEXT ONE! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
The new format and presenters (Iain Lee(comedian) wtf?) brought in for Watchdog have undoubtedly destroyed what once was a flagship consumer rights programme here in the UK and the PS3 episode sadly only goes to highlight this even more.
However, let’s not gloss over the main issue here which is that Sony has been and is still quite comfortable in hoodwinking it’s UK and EU customers who suffer the yellow light problem. Under EU law shoppers have an extremely strong case for demanding a repair, replacement or refund on items up to two years old – the minimum guarantee for all member states, including the UK. The fact is Sony have been charging people @£150 (which is a lot of money to any gamer) to have their PS3 “fixed” after a period of one year. Unfortunately most consumers do not know their basic consumer rights and have no idea of this fact and Sony is in no rush to tell people and continues to take their money. So all the people reading this who paid Sony to have their PS3 fixed under the first 2 years of purchase have been hoodwinked.
Even a company as shady as Microsoft, who have a history from day one of releasing unfinished software (windows anyone?) and hardware into the market at alpha and beta build stages for the public to bug test, will fix their Xbox failures free of charge. Sony really need to take note on that front. If anything good comes of that abysmal Watchdog show lets hope it’s that Sony reassesses their policy on the issue and offer to fix all PS3 owners machines free of charge for at least 2 years after purchase as they are required to do so under EU law.
