We’re a little slow at The Koalition when it comes to iPhone gaming, and we’re owning up to it. But every site develops, and this time we’re paying a little more attention to the titles coming out for both the iPhone and iPod touch. NFS: Undercover and Terminator Salvation came out this week to our surprise which we reported; alongside other AA titles that were unreported such as Top Gun. Rewind back a week and we would’ve had a full blown coverage on a certain crime ‘em up by the name of Car Jack Streets. Developed and published by TAG Games, Car Jack Streets is a GTA’esque game that was released last week to fill the sandbox genre void in the App Store.

As I said before, we’re trying to make it up to our iPhone and iPod touch readers for all the slack in the past. The first step in that rebuilding process is an exclusive interview we’ll publish within the week. With who you might ask? Managing Director of TAG Games, Paul Farley. Amongst other credited works, he’s an ex-DMA/Rockstar designer who was one of the original level designers for Grand Theft Auto 1. If you haven’t heard of Car Jack Streets, it’s set out to be a blockbuster hit in the App Store with its vibrant, comic-like visuals and an appeal to those who’s longed for a mini-GTA for their iDevices. With a comprehensive online leaderboard, a diverse soundtrack, outstanding presentation and a backing by a veteran of the industry, you should be hyped for this one if you haven’t purchased it already.

The Koalition discusses different aspects of Car Jack including how the licensed soundtrack came to be and what the future may hold for a confirmed Car Jack Streets 2 with Paul Farley. Make sure you tune in and read our interview with the man himself this coming week. For now, here’s an outline of Car Jack Streets’ storyline and what it’s all about:

You are Randal Meyers a good guy that just happens to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong people – most of the time.

Having witnessed the sudden and gruesome death of your father in a freak bagel cart accident you turned to gambling to soften the pain. Now your debt is over a million dollars and the mob are getting nervous. Your only friend in the whole city is Uncle Murphy. He isn’t your uncle and he isn’t really called Murphy but he’s all you’ve got.

Mob boss Frankie has cut you a deal. Pay back your debt $50,000 a week, every week, starting now. It’s that simple. Do whatever you have to but make sure you pay your dues. Drive taxis, steal cars, assassinate gang members – hell you can even deliver pizzas if you have to – just make those payments or you’re a dead man!
