We kicked it with Timbaland’s new artist D.O.E. to talk up games and what he has in store for us on the music tip. I first heard of D.O.E. when he was named John Doe a few years back and he had this song with Timbaland and Lil Jon I think it was titled “Rollin”. Since then I haven’t heard from him till the smash hit off of Timbaland’s latest album “The Way I Are” dropped. Now he is next up to bat.
What games did you play mostly growing up?
Growing up I used to play Zelda for Nintendo and Shinobi for Sega Genisis, I never beat neither….I gave it my best but….NO LUCK lol
What was your favorite game console from back in the day?
Nintendo was the shit till Genesis came out, but when I got to high school I didn’t play games much cause I was never home.
What game system are you feeling the most that’s out now?
I got Playstation 3 and Wii, but my son spends more time on them then I do. I need to play Wii more often so I came work out some of these luv handles lol
Bow wow and The Game recently did a madden challenge, are you up to take on any rappers?
If the price is right let’s do it!
If there was a D.O.E. video game what would it be about? And who would be the main enemy?
Hmmm….a D.O.E game would be about a dude who lost it all, job, money, family and everything and he has to go thru many obstacles to get everything back by any means necessary
Do you ever see your music getting placed in alot of games?
Hell yea! That’s a nice check, I got a few checks for “The Way I are” from video games
For the fans who are just discovering you, how would you describe your musical style?
My style is uplifting, humorous with a street edge. Tim taught me how to make music for the world without compromising who I am and what I stand for. Like “The Way I Are” was a world wide hit but my verse represented the struggle “baby girl, I aint got a huge ol I rent a room in a house”, that’s real shit but I did it in a way where the world could sing along and dance to it.
You been in the lab with Timbaland for a few years, what can we expect from the album?
My album is gonna be for the WORLD! Its a nice balance, a street edge with a international appeal. I talk about real everyday struggles, I represent the poor man with ambition. Everybody can relate
Do you see yourself getting into music production?
Yea I have 2 producers I work with Dj Jock and Beat Juggernaut. I also have 2 artist Precious Paris and Kiki B. Soon as I break thru the door they’re right behind me.
I seen on your myspace that your getting into films, what can we expect from that venture?
Ima make it do what it do wit the music first then attack Hollywood
Any last words for the fans?
