Gamescon isn’t only filled with PS3 news. Microsoft and Lionhead Studios held their Gamescon conference earlier today. The majority of the conference had to do with the newly announced third installment of Fable III. Peter Monyleux talked a little bit about the story, in Fable 3 you’ll play the son or daughter of the Fable 2 hero. Half of the game is said to have you tying to be the king of Albion and the other half trying not to be dethrone. Lionhead is hoping to innovate the games story telling and the game mechanics, and tells fans of the series to “expect the unexpected.” The game is in its infant stages of development so we play it until next fall 2010. Lionhead did release some concept art and a short teaser to get fable fans excited for the next chapter of the series, here’s the look:

Excerpt from the press release:

Alexander the Great. Genghis Khan. Queen Elizabeth I. Che Guevara. Throughout history, revolutionary leaders have taken very different paths to power, bringing about prosperity and poverty, peace and sometimes anarchy to their people. Now Microsoft Corp. and Lionhead Studios will explore the journey to rule, with you in pursuit of a kingdom, in “Fable III,” the exciting new game in the critically acclaimed “Fable” franchise. The title’s debut was confirmed today at gamescom in Germany by Peter Molyneux, Lionhead’s creative director, and will be available exclusively on Xbox 360 in the 2010 holiday season.
