Back for another fresh five list of games for you to try out or replay. This time I’m tackling the side scrolling beat em up games that have become pretty much ancient in these days of gaming. What happened to these games? These were like the Halo and Gears of the golden age. Goes to show you how fast things can change, so FPS games may take a back seat next gen. Nobody knows. But below is a list of games I enjoyed over the years, feel free to add games in the comments you feel I should have included.

Brawl Brothers

Brawl Brothers

This game had so much replay value. I cant count the number of time we would do rock, paper, scissors to see who had next on the controller. The graphics, the characters, the fighting moves. Where the hell did this game come from? Thats all I thought of when my best friend brought it over my house.

Streets Of Rage Series

Might as well list the whole series here. If you haven’t played Streets Of Rage yet, I highly recommend you go back. I cant possibly make a side scrolling list without listing these classics.

TMNT: Turtles In Time

When I played this game for the first time my jaw dropped. So much detail on the turtles and great graphics, made this a instant classic. I should have stayed that way though. The remake was good but felt it wasnt needed. It also made me realize how short older games are. It sort of ruined my great memory for the game.

Double Dragon

Im not to sure. But this game might have been the first side scrolling beat em up I played. But another game that pretty much shaped the genre very early on. You have to get a taste of this.

The Simpsons Arcade

I might get shunned for this pick. But every time. I mean every single time I went to the arcade I had to get my hands on this game. There used to be a crowd of people waiting to play this. That’s kind of laughable today. Will be hard to play this unless you get MAME and download it. But its worth the effort.
