A judge who decided to skip work for Modern Warfare 2 left a trial pending recently, leaving a defendant very lucky. The judge who was also present at a midnight launch for Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, decided to fake his sickness to have a day off to play the game.
It seems delivering hard justice on the virtual battle field is just as important as real life justice. In other countries such as Japan, they have a day off to coincide with the release of games such as Dragon Quest. Will we see something like this apply to huge western franchises such as Modern Warfare?
I think not, as popular western franchises tend to be fads which die down a couple years down the line. Japanese franchises tend to have a forever lasting buzz as far as popularity.
In any case, at least we are aware that even people who hold professional careers are skipping work for Modern Warfare.
