A new Medal of Honor game has been missing from consoles for a while now. Call of Duty came onto the scene and took over the first person shooter genre in its absence. No one is saying that Medal of Honor ever ran the genre, but when many people thought of World World II FPS games, MOH had a stranglehold on the consoles last gen. Now that its hiatus is over, Medal of Honor is ready to make its return in 2010, but the whole WWII theme is getting left behind. Perhaps they finally got the memo that Nazis and Hitler can only be killed so many times.

The new Medal of Honor is said to take place in present day Afghanistan. I guess the hunt for Bin Laden will be more enjoyable than fighting the Axis powers. EA’s development team has been working with Tier 1 Operators from the US Special Operations Community to bring a realistic experience to gamers. Call of Duty has raised the bar for war games and its up to titles like Battlefield and Medal of Honor to play catch up. Expect to learn more about the new medal of Honor game in the upcoming months. Until then, giving your consoles a rest from 10 straight hours of Modern Warfare last night.
