Earlier today, Microsoft announced that it has acquired a new developer, BigPark. The company was created in 2007 by Wil Mozell, Erik Kiss, Hanno Lemke and Don Mattrick, who is now the Senior Vice President of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. Together they have produced such games as Need for Speed, FIFA Soccer, NBA Street and SSX. Yeah, I agree they’re not Valve but we’ll have to wait until E3 to see what their exclusively bringing to the Xbox 360. Phil Spencer, General Manager at Microsoft Game Studios, had this to say about what Microsoft and BigPark can do together:

“The combination of the BigPark and Microsoft Game Studios talent pools will be an accelerant for growth and innovation. We believe BigPark has tremendous potential to create new properties and innovative gaming experiences for our platforms, one of which we’re looking forward to showcasing at the E3 Expo in June.”

I’m not really confident they can do anything special. I expect to see Avatar Go-Kart from them, can’t really expect a triple-A title from a developer called BigPark. Who knows though, I really hope they make me eat my words.
