NBA Jam Screenshot & First Details Emerge

I’m not going to judge to much because its early. But, this game is looking like a bad Photoshop in motion. Lets take a trip. Here is the first image leak by Go Nintendo Which comes from an exclusive upcoming Nintendo Power article.

As you can see those signature style dunks are still included which is a plus. Another plus, the game doesn’t take on to much of a “cartoonish” style, which is what I assumed. Now take a look at this screen spotted at Pasta Padre.

Looks fake right? Well, its not. It turns out each player will have several facial expressions for dunks, shots, etc. Now you see why I said it looks like bad Photoshop in motion. Those real heads will of course be placed on top of 3D bodies. But wait there is more. Here are some details that has leaked out about the game via NeoGaf.

2 Modes, 1 is called Classic Campaign, plays pretty much identical to previous NBA Jams, 3v3, no rules other than shot clock and goaltending. The other is called Remix Tour, which is different, changing the core mechanics, rule tweaks, and camera tweaks etc. The devs didnt want to go into detail on the Remix Tour mode yet.

Theres tons of new dunks, a new spin move that can evade the shove move.

The faces are actual photograph captures, each character has multiple faces, 3 faces while running the court, 2 dunk faces, and a positive and negative face. (Looks hilarious. Basically its 3d bodies with 2d heads)

Option of motion controls or holding the wiimote sideways. Didn’t see any mention of the Classic Controller

The addition of a spin move is cool, but this 3 vs 3 thing has me stumped. Why? The classic thing about NBA Jam is the tag team gameplay. Why the need to add another player? I like how the option of holding the Wii mote sideways is there, meaning no mandatory motion controls. I don’t even see how motion is going to work anyway, waiting for the video footage of that one. On a side note: With the hype surrounding the return of this franchise I’m pretty sure Activision is working on bringing back Barkley: Shut Up & Jam with the TNT license. Ha!
