Wii hackers we’re living in bliss until G4TV’s Attack Of The Show came along and exposed their shady exploits to the world. Now less than 2 weeks later Nintendo have fought back with a new system update designed specifically to combat piracy. Wii System 4.2 is arguably the strongest anti-piracy measure Nintendo has taken yet but as we all know hackers won’t simply keel over and give up. Expect dorky, basement-bound teenagers to work overtime in an attempt to thwart Nintendo’s efforts and the manufacturer/pirates cat and mouse game between will surely continue. Nintendo receives no sympathy from me though since the only way to listen to CD’s and watch DVD’s on your Wii is to hack it, Don’t get me wrong I’m not condoning piracy but if Nintendo aren’t willing to give us access to things that the Wii is capable of then why can’t we obtain them for ourselves? However Ninty does deserve brownie points for not auto-installing this update without consent and even warning owners that after the update “unauthorized content may be removed as it may damage your console.”

The fight goes on…
