UPDATE: Gary A Swaby would like to apologize for this article as it was a misunderstanding of the quote made by Valve. The Koalition itself holds no responsibility for the misinformation of this article.

The real news topic is about Valve wanting to sell their mods through Xbox live as quoted in OXM.

Valve’s told OXM that it wants to sell mods from the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2 on Xbox Live.

The company won’t be able to give them away because “Xbox Live isn’t set up like that,” so it’s considering distributing content and passing the money back to the creators.

Valve told OXM that they want to sell the mods for the PC version of Left 4 Dead, with the direct quote for the reasoning being “Xbox Live isn’t set up like that”. This is sure to anger many gamers out there, and should this be allowed to fly this may even be a reoccurring issue that PC gamers will face.

Currently PC gamers do not pay for mods at all, and this has been the way of the PC gamer for many years. However the money driven force that is Xbox Live is now making PC gamers suffer; although at the moment it might just be this game that suffers, what if they actually receive a huge amount of purchases from the PC mods?

I feel as though Microsoft’s money driven business will cause everyone to suffer eventually, Xbox Live has now become a beast but at what cost? Cost is indeed a key word.

Microsoft already tried to charge for their Windows Live service, however PC gamers were not willing to pay a subscription for such a service when they have other options such as Steam. Now it seems Microsoft have found a new way to enforce their Live service on PC gamers, and the only ones who can determine whether it flies or not is the PC gamers themselves.

PC gamers have a reputation for standing up for themselves, so we will just have to wait and see how this works out.

For crying out loud. Here we are trying to get those greedy pricks at Microsoft to stop charging us for everything on XBL, and now these idiots are trying to do the opposite and make things worse by charging on the PC as well?

    Is nothing sacred?

    You idiots. Enjoy your boycott.

This is the most confusing, badly written false article i have read in a long time.

You are referring to left4dead DLC as mods. There is a difference between mods and DLC. Mods are made by the community DLC is made by valve.

Valve has absolutely no intention to make people pay for DLC on PC. They have stated this many times, and i find it shocking that you claim it’s fact that they are going to sell it.

You sir are a liar and you have obviously made this stuff up. I am going to tell everyone about how this site gets things so wrong.

Before you write anything, make sure you actually know the facts instead of writing bullshit like this.

    1. mod =/= DLC
    2. Valve cannot sell user made content since they do not own it
    3. This was regarding DLC on LIVE and has nothing to do with the PC.

Congrats on having some of the lowest journalism standards anywhere. Go back to high school please, and learn how to critically read before you attempt to write anything.
