Mick Boogie has been holding down the mixtape scene with REAL mixes. To many Djs walk around with that title without showing anything for it. Besides that, Boogie just landed a new show “The Press Play Show” On Shade45 the popular Hip Hop channel on Sirius Satellite Radio. He took some time to give us more info on the show plus let us in on what games he played back in the day.
AB Frasier: Mick, I just got the word that you will have your own show on shade 45, congratulations. How does it feel to have your own platform?
Mick Boogie: Well, its not just a show… its an extension of our blog… so one thing Terry Urban and I are very excited about is to continue the branding of our projects under the Press Play umbrella.
What will make your new show stand out from the already great shows on Shade45?
We are going to focus on the new, the fun and exciting genres of hip hop they aren’t covering… the new “cool” underground, the (I hate this word) “hipsters”, and the mash-up and remix stuff that made us who we are.
I was told the show would focus on hip hop subcultures, would you classify gaming as one hip hop subculture?
Definitely… our show is more than music. We are covering games, fashion, sneakers, skateboarding, you name it.

Whats the story behind the shows name “The Press Play Show”?
We ran a successful blog called Press Play Fashion Forward… and it was logical to name the show after the same thing. So we condensed the title… and here we are.
Your remixes are some of the best in the business. What gives you inspiration to make them?
I mean, I’m a DJ. I know what I want to hear, and what will work. So that’s what I make. I’m happy people like them!
There’s a big rumor that Activision is working on making a DJ hero much like the guitar hero game series. what does a game like that have to do to not disrespect the art of djing?
Consult real deejays on the project… make sure it’s represented the correct way. From how the rock legends have responded to Guitar Hero and Rock Band, I’m sure it’ll be all good!
Do you see yourself getting involved in video game soundtracks soon?
I’d like to. Someone call me… LOL. I actually deejayed a Guitar Hero party for Xbox/Activision and had a great time.

Before we head out of here. What were your favorite video games growing up?
Lots… I’m old… I’m 30… Mario 1,2,3. Zelda. Double Dribble. Excitebike. Mike Tyson’s Punchout. Sonic 1 and 2. Then I took a few years off… Got back into it with Xbox and Gamecube. But while I play occasionally, I’m not a heavy gamer by any means.
And now we are in the “next generation” of gaming. What games are you feeling now?
Well, I got my wife a Wii Fit for Xmas…so that’s kinda where we are at right now… I enjoy some of the latest NBA games for the Xbox 360 and Wii as well.
Any last words for the fans?
