September 2009 NPD – Slim Chance for Xbox 360

September was the first full month in which the price cuts took place for both PS3 and Xbox 360, with the Wii getting its own price cut in late September. Well today is NPD day, so lets see how people reacted towards these new price cuts. Well, the new PS3 Slim got people to purchase one, so their go another 491K potential Uncharted 2 buyers. Wii came in second with 462, not far behind, and Xbox 360 came in third with 352K, not bad. On the sofware side, Halo 3; ODST sold a good 1.53m units, pretty good for an expansion. The Beatles: Rock Band came in at number 5 (360 version) selling 254K, outselling the Wii version and Guitar Hero 5. Batman: Arkham Asylum charted for the second month on the PS3 selling 212K, but I believe it’s because those new PS3 owners didn’t have a game to pick up with their new console. So that’s all I care to mention, very impressive numbers. Next month Uncharted 2 sales, like Gary Swaby said, “if uncharted dont come in first place for october…fuck ps3 owners.” (He really said that, so email him @ gswaby@thekoalition.com)
