Recently Rockstar Games released the huge dlc episode “Lost & Damned” on the Xbox 360 (Analyst have estimated it to go double platinum). Not only did they add new playable content on the game but a fresh soundtrack came along with it. Rockstar tapped Statik Selektah to hold down a majority of the hiphop tracks. One of the heavy spitters Statik got involved was New York’s very own Skyzoo. In a recent exclusive talk with The Koalition Skyzoo spoke on how he got involved with the project.

I hooked up with Rockstar through Statik Selektah. He’s a dj/producer who I’ve know for awhile now, and he handled the GTA 4 soundtrack all together. He reached out to me about doing a joint and we knocked it out.

Rockstar also threw together a special game night for players to go against Skyzoo and a few well known others. He spoke on that event as well.

The game night was dope. It was myself, Consequence, Saigon & Termanology, along with Miss Info from Hot 97 in NY. I’m not as good as a lot of the kids who jump online everyday and play, but I had fun nonetheless. If Rockstar makes a basketball game though, it’s lights out for whoever’s playing me in that!

Grand Theft Auto is one of the few games besides sports that allows hip hop artist on a indie level like Skyzoo to be exposed to millions. When asked about the future of hip hop in video games Skyzoo explained,

I see the relationship between hip hop and video games growing even more. With record sales declining, music is going to become more relevant in formats that people may have overlooked in the past. I think video games will be at the front of the line as far as music placement goes. I’m all for it.

I don't think outside of the box. Because if I did then that would presume I was already in one. Co Founder Of The Koalition.
