Socom 4 Announced For Fall 2010

A growing sub-genre in upcoming first person shooters this year is the military shooter. Its the right time for Sony to capitalize on it with a popular game of their own, Socom 4. The fourth installment of the game is being developed by the original developers of the series, Zipper Interactive, who just released MAG. It is said that they are working hard to re-envision the franchise, which is a good start. It goes without saying that Socom 4 will be a PS3 exclusive and according to Playstation Blog, it will be out this fall.

The single player experience will take place in South East Asia, where you must take out a revolutionary army from messing with the global economy. You will lead a squad of five through jungles, streets, and ruins. The multiplayer will offer team battles of 32 players and will offer more Special Forces units than ever before. The realism of the experience was said to be “second to none.”

All the Socom 4 excitement doesn’t end here. Tonight GameTrailers TV will air the world premiere trailer for SOCOM 4 at 12:30 am EST/PST on Spike. IGN also has a preview of the game up now.
