Sony Steals My Heart With ModNation Racers!

OK I admit it, I am secretly in love with ModNation Racers! It combines the irresistible charm of LittleBigPlanet with the high-speed thrills of the Mario Kart series which for me is like a dream come true. For those who missed out on the announcement, ModNation Racers is the newest game in Sony’s Play.Create.Share series but this time instead of creating levels for cute little sack people to explore you create circuits for Puppet-looking-people to race around. During their stage demo at E3 one of the game’s developers showed just how easy it is to compose your own race track with their Track Studio tool as he created a pretty neat looking level, complete with mountains, village houses, a lake, hazard cones and crafty sheep to obstruct the course all in under 5 minutes.
As much as I loved LittleBigPlanet I have yet to create my own level, the interface is far too complicated and creating something on par with the levels already on the disc seems impossible, However ModNation Racers’ creation tools look incredibly easy to use and I can see myself dedicating several hours making the perfect track for me and my Koalition companions to battle it out on. Just like LBP as well as creating you can also download tracks and characters which your friends (or complete strangers) have created, and even tweak them to your own satisfaction which will sufficiently boost the games lasting appeal.
