Now while we can all see that everyone, everyone’s grandma and everyone’s grandmas dog owns a Nintendo Wii and that the Wii has and will continue to dominate in sales I’m talking about real gaming here. Which would be the PS3 and the 360 (sorry PC Gamers).
Anything Halo: Like it or not The Halo trilogy and pretty much anything Halo is a powerhouse seller for the 360 and with two big Halo related games coming out in 2009 it doesn’t look like Microsoft has any plans on stopping the hype train powered buy record shattering sales numbers and insane amounts of Halo devotees. Gamers nag and complain that they hate Halo 3 but they’ll be the first in line for Halo Wars and Halo: ODST.
Acquiring Exclusives: Microsoft has being taking exclusives like Brain Urlacher picking off QBs foolish enough to throw in his direction.Whether its buying them up or devs are realizing that its smarter to go multiplatform in these days and times. Microsoft has been putting work in to get plenty of other exclusives also on the 360. From Tekken to Final Fantasy to Downloadable Content for two of 2008s Biggest games.
Xbox Live: Xbox Live has grown alot since its debut on November 2002. It will continue to grow and stay as the one true online multiplayer gaming and digital media service. I have a very distinct feeling that Microsoft will make several very big moves for live as a whole sometime in 09.
Achievements: Gamers crave for having a sense of accomplishment besides knowing they did the damn near impossible. They like showing it. It’s what being a gamer is about, having fun and gloating. I look for Microsoft to take achievements to the next level in 09 and to shock everyone.
Price Tag: I’m not sure if you’re aware but we are in a recession at the moment. The $200 price tag will help SEVERELY and unless Sony follows up with on soon and doesn’t stop trying to rehash the same system with a new game thing then 360 will outsell PS3 by a landslide.
Japan: The 360 has been showing promise in the land of the rising sun. Releasing several highly acclaimed JRPGs to help raise pretty lack luster sales in Japan. With the recent acquisition of the next Final Fantasy and Star Ocean: The Last Hope hitting shelves in the next few months I expect 360 sales to soar once again in Japan. We still don’t know if Microsoft has any other JRPGs under wraps.
In Reality, We all expect some surprises from all three Console creators (Sony,Nintendo,Microsoft). I see Microsoft pulling out the big guns and making some major moves in 09 to help put them on top. The year has just begun and we already have several AAA titles coming out so I believe anything can happen. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Final Fantasy, Tekken -_- come on its something thats coming to PS3 as well as MS has already said they aren’t putting Final Fantasy 13 for 360 in Japan (Dumb move MS) and to add to people saying that the 260 is best because it is outselling the PS3. So is the Wii an I wouldn’t go by sells as by as much as you can do on a system an PS3 can do more then both can an your PS3 can be use as a PC with Dog Linux, so if you want to talk about sells then you should talk about the Wii an if not then shut up.
yeah halo will sell a lot but it doesnt matter if ppl trade in halo wars cuz first their 360 will get the rrod and go to reliable software and second cuz shooter gamers just dont have the patience for an rts and with the software for spring alone ps3 will dominate and ppl will jump ship

Now you say Xbox live will improve in 09. Well, so will PSN. PSN is fine, it runs just like LIVE minus a few things like video chat or whatever.
Achievements? PS3 has trophies…
Price tag? Yay, one good reason. I agree here, if Sony doesn’t lower the price this year, it will hurt them alot.
Japan? No, all the 360 has is SO4 (so far). White Knight Chronicles has already sold alot in Japan. Then you have to remember that FFXIII/Versus is PS3 exclusive in Japan and will sell heaps too.

I cant believe that people still talk about this shit of Console Wars. We all know that the Xbox360 was release years earlier than the PS3. What I am saying is that people that wanted the PS3 got tired of waiting and bought the closest thing to the PS3. The PS3 was released later cause like it or not it is a more complex console. The difference between the Xbox and the Xbox 360 is basically the color and some other little things. The difference between Ps2 PS3 is everything besides the controllers and even that changed. The Xbox didnt change that much just like the color. The PS3 added Blu Ray, Blu Ray is the SHIT to watch movies and make games in them just like MGS4 and God of War 3 and many games to come. I can say this because I own a PS3 while my lil brother has the 360 i have seen them and played them both and for me the PS3 is the best console by far in every single way. Of course 360 is gonna have the advantage it has been released since like forever and the console is so cheap that the console “autodestroy” itself after a year LOL. My Ps3 has 2 years in my home and my lil brother 360 has 1 year and it has already fucked up with the Ring of Death shit. I mean what the fuck is that, what kind of console gets damage and tells you while its damage that its gonna be fucked up soon, thats like on purpose why the hell they put the red lights in it if it is supposed to be green damit and if u have and 360 u know what i am talking about and u know that the green lights turn red. 360 cost satr in 199$ the cheaper PS3 cost like the more expensive 360. This article=Epic fail. PS3 has 28 exclusive titles which includes disc based and PSN. The Shitbox 360 doesn’t have nearly as much exclusives. Fuck Halo. God of War 3 and Killzone 2 will pwn all Microsoft exclusives. I’m not saying that PS3 will catch up to the shitbox 360. I’m saying that Microsoft will NOT dominate in 2009.

I’m sorry but Halo Wars isn’t going to cut it, I mean its not even Halo an its not even made by Bungie, so why would anyone care for that shit ass game? No one will and for me the only 360 title that I love playing alot is Halo 3 an I will get the new add on but Halo Wars just looks like crap that MS wants to pass as a good game by putting the name “Halo” in it.
im so tired and bored with the fighting. i go through it every day with my two XBOTS of roommates i have. i have both systems im very fair. i tired of all the bies people. their are people with the PS3 that havent actually play some of the 360 exclusives but drag them in the mud. and vise versal. just be fair a try out the comp game before you sh*t all on them. i do think 08 was better for the PS3 when it comes to exclusives. all 360 had was a disappointing halo 3 that got owned by COD4. GOW2 which was more of a add on IMO.

Xbox 360 is done. Developers are starting 2 Max Out the systems power and are talkng abt xbox 720 already. On da otha hand the PS3 is pickng up an startng 2 show its true colours with KILLZONE 2 n the rest of 09’s line-up. 360’s exclusives are looking pretty weak so far from what we know. Although, it’s doing just fine on the multi-platform front.
Unfortunately, there’s really nothing that is going to change 360’s status in Japan. It’s essentially a lost cause. Hardware and software sales are terrible.
I don’t see what else Microsoft can do in order to try to beat Sony and especially Nintendo. Is Halo spin-offs the only answer ? There’s won’t be Gears of War or Fable to help Microsoft out this year. Does Rare actually have something exciting in the works for a change ? Let’s hope so.
Speaking of Nintendo, it seems like the Wii will most likely have yet another year successful year especially when it’s finally got more exclusive third-party games leading the pack than ever before and the release of both Wii Sports Resort and Motion Plus in particular, should give the Wii another advantage. The good news for Japanese gamers is that the Wii also have a wave of RPGs coming out. while Western gamers can look forward to finally getting some fan favorite cult titles and more mature ones than compared to any other year since the Wii’s release. Now all we need to know is what Nintendo itself has up its sleeve for the rest of its game lineup.
I’m not sure yet what to make of Sony. God of War 3 is sure to a bit a hit but looking at MGS4 and even GTA4, I don’t expect any other title except possibly Final Fantasy, to actually do enough to boost hardware sales. As for Kill Zone 2, it’s really hard to say. The game looks visually impressive but Killzone 1 was really bad so you can’t really judge a book by its cover.Even if it is a success, will it sell well ? 2008 was supposed to be Sony’s year which turned out to be a mixed bag. It won in terms of PS3 game releases but not on hardware or software sales. Hopefully, Sony has something up its sleeve to make 2009 a better year for itself and PS3 fans. I know this much – Home won’t be enough. Sony could start things off by doing a price drop though. Question is, can Sony afford it?

Bottom line is this if the ps3 is better it will be on pace to selling 100 million units as their 1st two consoles did why its not besides that its to pricey it just doesnt deliver games or graphics as it promised the best looking game is not even out yet a title thats been in the works for damn near 5 years killzone 2 should look good thats it. Where are the amazing graphics at? The cell is the best well if thats so why are the xbox games look way better faster load times larger worlds if blu-ray is better show me where and 1 more thing 70% of the ppl who have 360 never owned the first xbox
I being a 360 gamer for only one reason is the experience of Xbox live, i have met hundreds of friends, downloaded many movies and shared many experiences, Gaming is no longer just about playing but about the soical interaction just like school is not just about learning but about the social benifit. Microsoft did rush the system and ended up paying for it with quite a few flaws in their console but the 360 in the end is the best system out their because of its only advantage which is Xbox Live and what that brings to gaming. And to you people who think live should be free I disagree. One of the greatest reasons gaming online on the 360 advanced so quickly was because they had sort of like funding to enhance there product which they did. And for those of you who are saying this is coming from someone who only plays 360 I have a wii, PS3 and a 360 and I play all of them almost equelly. The PS3 to me is the better console in general because of hardware and so on but the experience you get with a console is what impacts you the most. My experience with PS3 i give it a 8/10 and that is because it’s media experience and online experience (not including bluray) is ok. The Online needs improving and to me the only way they can do this is by chargin 20 bucks for a year or something. The wii i give 6/10 because it does not cover all types of games the average gamer wants to play but covers only a few. Also it’s online attempt is pathetic. The xbox 360 i give 8/10 because of its hardware problems and lack of connecting media with other operating systems. I give it the same as PS3 because its live service gives it a huge advantage. It creates a whole new world for the gamer. So depending on what your looking at to me the 360 and PS3 are tied due to certain advantages. If sony ever gets their online gaming service as high as Xbox live then PS3 will be the supreme no doubt about it. But intell then i agree that the 360 will win this generations war unless sony does this. Because gamers are looking for both social fun and Fun in general.
I don’t know if it’s been mentioned (too lazy to read all the long comments above) but when you said FF13 to xbox 360 along with SO4 with increase sales in Japan, you forgot that only SO4 would make an impact on the 360 in Japan since FF13 is PS3 exclusive in Japan and multi-platform elsewhere.

x box sold much more than ps3, cuz it came out much earlier and was in its peak. its total sales will be more than ps3 for a while because of past years’ success. But for 2009 or 2010, i think ps3 will win the battle. i ,owning both ps3 and and xbox 360, personally think that ps3 is a console with so much potential. its 160gb beast console, the ps3-exclusive games, developing online play, only way microsoft compete sony in 2009 and 2010 years’ sale is marketing. and buy as many games that was only ps3 exclusive games such as it did with FF13 using all kinds of strategy or w/e. But buying xbox 360 after 2009 is something i don’t just personally recommend
