Yesterday some videos appeared on Youtube showing off some third person gameplay for Modern Warfare 2. These leaked video’s had the Internet going crazy, as the Call Of Duty franchise has been hailed as a leading first person shooter experience. Infinity Ward have now spoken on the issue, confirming that there is indeed third person gameplay in Modern Warfare 2.

However, it might not be in the way you might think. The third person experience in Modern Warfare 2 will be in no way similar to games such as Elder Scrolls and Fallout 3, where players can toggle between first and third person game play. The third person game play in Modern Warfare 2 is a complete separate mode, and there is no mixing the two styles of game play in any way. This means you could have a third person game of Modern Warfare 2 online, but all the other players participating will also be in third person mode.

In this case I am sure there is nothing to worry about, it seems to all come down to a preference thing. If you prefer playing in third person then the option will be there, if not then you can completely ignore it.

Modern Warfare 2 arrives in stores in exactly two weeks, I’ll see you on the battlefield.
