Time Magazine’s top ten games of 2009
Last week you guys got to see my very own views on the top ten games of 2009, well this week Time have issued their very own top ten list. Many people didn’t agree with my list; however if you thought mine was bad, then I would like very much to hear your opinions on Time’s.
Time Magazine’s Top Ten Games Of 2009
1. Modern Warfare 2
2. Batman: Arkham Asylum
3. DJ Hero
4. Borderlands
5. New Super Mario Bros. Wii
6. Geo-Defense Swarm
7. Scribblenauts
8. Halo: ODST
9. Assassin’s Creed 2
10. Uncharted 2
Firstly I appreciate that they tried to add some variety to their list. They added games that nobody in their right minds would think to put as game of the year, and thats fair enough. However, are we really meant to believe that an Iphone game is better than Uncharted 2 or even Assassins Creed 2? I have to question just how many games the people who made this list play, there is so many things wrong with this list that I don’t even know where to begin. If you completely reversed this list and made number ten into number 1, then the list would make even more sense that it does right now (with the exception of Batman, which is a fair number 2 and Modern Warfare could be anywhere in a top 5).
I thought their list last year was terrible. But looking back at it now after seeing this 2009 list, I feel as though they did a better job last year.
Time’s 2008 Top Ten Games:
1. Grand Theft Auto IV
2. Braid
3. LittleBigPlanet
4. Rock Band 2
5. Gears of War 2
6. Dead Space
7. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
8. Hunted Forever
9. Fieldrunners
10. Spore
I actually give them credit for last years list, as the top five is very safe. However going by this year’s list I am tempted to deem them insane. Uncharted 2 at number 10? It seems Time wanted to give some games some shine that many other publications wouldn’t include in their lists, however this effort has made their list seem too far-fetched in my personal opinion.
This is just my opinion however, and your opinions matter as much as mine. With that being said please leave your comments and let me know what you think.

I think their top 10 list for the most part is great with the exception of Geo-Defense Swarm. An iphone game listed higher than Uncharted 2? Yeah, bs for sure. But besides that everything on that list belongs there.
Yes, even DJ Hero, it was a great game, new, unique, and creative.
I don't think Time magazine necessarily makes their top 10 list based off which games is better but I like their list due to how different they see things. To us, the hardcaore gamer, we see this list as bullshit cause we say “well wtf does Time magazine know about games.” I just think its refreshing to see a different magazine give their take on the top 10.

I am really thinking there are some biased politics that go into the every industry..music, gaming, TV, etc…how the hell is Street Fighter 4 not on here. There is no denying that it gave the fighting gamer genre the necessary spark that it needed this generation..other than that..the list is cool. But Street Fighter 4's impact this year is undeniable. To each his own though.
Scribblenauts better than Uncharted 2? 0_o
No disrespect to Time Magazine, but Super Mario Brothers Wii feels like a forced entry. Granted that it's the only Mario game Nintendo has out to compete this holiday season, that fact alone shouldn't make it among the top 10. Mario fans will disagree with my theory but in my opinion Super Mario Galaxy added a new dimension to the franchise and until the inevitable sequel drops I see no need to praise Mario Brothers Wii. I'll also agree that Street Fighter 4 should have beaten out that IPhone game for the spot. Clearly Modern Warfare 2 and Halo:ODST are on there because of the sales. Uncharted 2 definitely should have been at the top of the list…

smh, first off…. Mario Galaxy was in 07 and yes it probably is better than mario Bros Wii, but the praise for this game comes due to how its more like the old school mario games. It does add a new dimension to the franchise with the addition of 4 player coop which is alot of fun btw.
second, to say MW2 is there for sales, like come on yo. So you're saying MW2 wasn't a top 10 game of 2009. Shit was the most anticipated and most popular game of the year. It's like prom queen, of course the most popular girl is gonna win the crown, but we all know there's someone better looking than her. lol
Oh and go play Uncharted 2….

SMH ive only played a tab bit of Uncharted 2 and I think it deserved a higher spot on this list.
