Once in a while comes a long a series of games. Be it two, three or hell EVEN five games in the series that are unforgettable. With not only praise from gamers but praise from the critics, the guys that are supposed to nitpick whats wrong with the games. I’ve contemplated for the past few weeks what my top five would be. Now countless hours,30 sheets of paper and lots of caffeine later I have my Top 3.
Number 3
The Fallout Series.

Interplay’s (now Bethesda Softworks) post-apocalyptic action-adventure/RPG set in the 22nd Century is a true gem among gamers. From the first Fallout set in Southern California and most recently Washington D.C. Fallout has been a griping adventure. Whether its searching for a Water Chip to help keep the people of Vault 13 with water and then later having to destroy an army of mutants or searching high and low and doing all that is possible to find your lost father and everything in between. The Fallout series has stuck with the same great level up system through the entire series. Character development in the first and second one is divided into four categories: attributes, skills, traits and perks. In the most recent Fallout (Fallout 3) it’s a bit more simplified but still sticks to the same four categories. There’s a few things that fallout does that makes it stand out from any other game series. The Karma system is very deep and can be game changing. It also makes you think. Makes you sit back and say “Is this good for me” and “Should i really do/say this?”. Something VERY few games have captured. Human Nature. At the end of the day fallout is one of those games that everyone needs to experience. It’s almost like living a second life (although I’m not sure how many people would willingly throw themselves into a post apocalyptic wasteland).
Number 2
Metal Gear Solid Series

The Solid Snake name is synonymous with ANY stealth/action game to come out in the past decade. If you’re a gamer you know the name Snake…whether it’s Solid,Naked(Aka Big Boss),Liquid or Solidus. The Metal Gear series has been known for its extremly deep tone and numerous plot twists that mirrors some of the best movies ever released. The Metal Gear series brought a movie like experience to video games. From infiltrating Shadow Moses in Alaska to hunting down your former mentor in a cold war-era Russia to trying to stop your nefarious brother Liquid from destroying everything you stood to protect. Every cut scene, every line of dialogue is memorable and damn near Oscar worthy. This is really seen in the most recent addition to the Metal Gear series. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots. From the remarkable score to the what seem like endless but perfectly executed cut scenes (or mini movies). Although we’re not sure if Solid (or any Snake) will be coming back for another earth saving expedition we can be sure of one thing. The Metal Gear Series has earned its spot as one of the Best Game series ever.
Number 1
Star Wars: Knight Of The Old Republic Series

Star Wars. One of the most popular movie series ever can reign in any form of entertainment it seems. Now Star Wars is known for its excellent story telling, plot and overall strong character development. They stuff it all into under two hours too. KOTOR (One and Two) did that and extended the experience by 38- 100 hours. Taking place 4,000 years before the rise of the Galactic Empire the original KOTOR had you walk in the footsteps of a Republic Solider with a shaky past on a path to stop the then Dark Lord Darth Malak (an extremly promising Ex member of the Jedi Order that fell to the dark side). As you travel to different planets on your quest for Malak you gather friends, weapons and soon learn you are more than just another republic solider. All of this leads up to possibly one of the best planned and perfectly executed twists in video game history. The game (at the end) leaves you with a tough decision to make and a decision that will carry over into the sequel (Knight Of The Old Republic II:The Sith Lords). Where the story is not continued but takes a different route of an Exiled Jedi once again trying to stop the Sith from destroying the Republic and ruling the galaxy. The twist and plot turns in KOTOR II:Sith Lords are just as remarkable as the first and makes for one hell of a game and what earns the KOTOR series the Number 1 spot in the best Game Series stories ever.
Honorable Mentions: Final Fantasy Series,God Of War Series,Grand Theft Auto Series. I’m sure there are many more. There are countless amounts of game series that have great stories but these 3 take the cake.
