Spike’s 2009 Video Game Awards kick off on December 12th, but today we don’t complain about the winners. Today we’re gonna complain about the Game of the Year nominations. Here take a look at the nominees:

- Batman: Arkham Asylum
- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
- Assassin’s Creed II
- Left 4 Dead 2

Now I can understand Batman, Uncharted 2, and Modern Warfare 2 being nominated for this “prestigious award” but Left 4 Dead 2 and Assassin’s Creed II. Both of these games just came out yesterday, now before I go further I know Spike obviously has a deadline in which they no longer accept a game for a nomination but come on. It just so happened that deadline ended when Left 4 Dead 2 and Assassin’s Creed II hit store shelves, I refuse to believe that. I love conspiracy theories which is why I’m gonna say that these two nominations were negotiated. Either way, we all know Uncharted 2 will win. Even after all this, I must say I’ll still be watching the show just to see the world premier trailer of Halo: Reach.

P.S. Stop making these award shows look cheesy Spike. You make people think of gamers as fat kids who drink Mountain Dew and eat pizza all day. Oh and please no silver girls this year, just give them a bikini.

   Replace Left 4 dead 2 & Ass Creed with Street fighter 4 & Madden .

   Uncharted or Mw2 should win imo

   Honestly Batman was the best gaming experience of the year for me (haven’t play Uncharted 2 though). It was original and it was the best superhero solo player game to date. Great trophy hunting, stealth, fighting system, story and character design. This is my GOTY.

    WHAT?? Modern Warfare 2?? It isn’t even as good as the first. How can it be a nominee??

    What about Dragon Age: Origins?? Has got better reviews than Modern Warfare 1 AND 2. And it is not a sequel. Even Borderlands is a better game than COD:MW2

    Left 4 Dead 2 can’t match up with the others either.

    My list is:
    Dragon Age: Origins
    Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
    Batman Archam Asylum

    These are the only 3 that deserve to be nominees up to this point.
    Why put 5 nominees on the list, when they do not deserve it, is beyond me.
