Why Some Feel XNA Is The Future
Why Some Feel XNA Is The Future

Many people over the last 2 years argued that the Xbox 360 was now and PS3 was the future. People based that argument by pointing to different elements that Sony included in the PS3, mainly being the Blu-ray drive. And from far away that can really seem like a great argument. I do believe the Playstation 3 is more future proof than the 360 but to suggest that Microsoft wasn’t forward thinking when planning 360 is crazy.

Just look at XNA! What is XNA? For those who don’t know XNA is game programing software created by Microsoft, that can make games for Xbox 360 & PC. Its not an easy point, click & drag game program, but if your a coder or have some determination to learn the code if your not, you can make a game. So far there are XNA game makers from various backgrounds from actual industry professionals to a group of kids inside a bedroom.

How is this forward thinking? Its forward thinking because something like XNA is the beginning of the Youtube for games. XNA on Xbox Live is something similar to the iTunes App Store. If this thing pulls off the way I assume Microsoft will want it to, soon the XNA market will become a staple in the industry. The same way the Internet has evened out the playing field for a indie music artist to compete with major label acts. XNA has made the indie developer playing field similar by letting you have your game on the same live network as big publishers with millions of potential customers in your reach. And did I mention you make money? But quality is key!

Nobody is buying a trash game! Right now the XNA market is filled with many games that are not great quality. But this is expected because this process is fairly new. Within a year there will be so much stuff coming out and the quality will rise over time. When people see the potential of standing out in the crowd with a good game and the potential of making money , that will fuel there creativity and everybody wins in the end. So this is just a small reason why so many are pumped for XNA and the future of the service. Do you agree or not? Let me Know what you think.
